after market wiring harness
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:40:46 PM »
G'day
Has anyone got anything to report on the aftermarket wiring harness for 71 CB750 from ebay.
I've struggled getting my start solenoid to fire and have got in contact with a bike electician who can either build a complete new harness for me or fit the after market one while fixing any problems along the way
Thanks for your time
Scott

gday scott,i bought a david silvers one for the 500,its bloody good, the earth and red main seem heavier than the factory one,all the colours are correct,it was 79 pounds, about 125 aussie bucks, the 750 one is 130 pounds, about 205 dollars.i bought a fair bit of stuff so the freight worked out good aswell,i was going to make one but couldnt buy all the colours in less than 30metre rolls, enough to make 30 looms?

thanks dave
For the bloke to come to my place and completely re wire bike making a new harness is $500.  He has done a few for a mate who is a Italian bike mechanic and says his work is top notch.  But it sounds cheaper to buy a new harness and have the sparky fit it, while fixing any other things that he may find.

man!500 hard earned??,this loom i bought is spot on,its best if you can think of anything else you need thats a small cheap item to order at the same time and the freight is the same, like cables or brake hoses or what ever,$500 bucks?im sure its top notch work,,but these looms are top notch as well, see if your switches are ok and such ,try and order as much as you can and the freight dosent really go up,like brake shoes or pads etc.,fuel tap?make the most of the freight,i was toying around this arvo with the wiring and it really is a good unit, all the plugs and rubber covers are as per factory,i could have made a pretty good one as i went along, this has all the correct dimensions and fits straight on,cheers mate.
