Hello All!! New from Connecticut
« on: March 05, 2011, 01:37:44 PM »
Just picked up a 73 CB500 with 9,000 miles on her to restore (pics to follow).  Its not running, needs some work, but is complete and hasn't been messed with. I'm hoping that I can get some ideas from members and possibly pick their brains when I'm scratching my head.

My first bike was a 76 CB125 when I was 8 yrs old (I'm 35 now) unfortunatly I was young and had little insight and I rode it like a dirtbike and abused it more than any honda test facitly could think of and it kept going till I was 15 (and probably beyond when I sold it).  My parents had purchased a cottage on a near by lake and it was sitting in the garage as it was part of the sale.  It had 76!!!!miles on it and was show room fresh.  ahhh how I kick myself in the ass now!!  But it spawned my love of all things motorcycle and especially Hondas.

I presently have a 2000 Honda CBR 929, a 69 Triumph TR6C Trophy 650, and now the 73 CB500

Thanks again!!!  Cliff

Welcome and there are quite a few guys here who can help you.  My daily rider is '72 CB500 that was severely used and abused, especially after having a tree growing through it.   As far as the handleing, etc. it is probably one of the few bikes of its era that can match Triumph in terms of handleing.  If you ever see me out on the roads in Connecticut stop by and say hi.

The triumph is an excellent runner.  Its been in the family for a long time.  My uncle owned it in the early seventies, my coulsin bought it from him, it went back to my uncle and then my father bought it.  It doesnt have orig paint or the high pipes on it and I have a set of clubmans on it as well.  Other than that....motors been rebuilt and runs good.

Will do Spot!!  If your ever out for a ride in the Northwest corner around Thomaston, Litchfield area send a message.  I went to Central so I'm familiar with New Britain.

Welcome! I'm from Shelton CT...nice to see another local!  Just picked up my first bike yesterday 75 cb750, plan to do a cafe build.  Do you happen to know anyone local who could rebuild my carbs(I provide parts) for a reasonable price? Im unemployed at the moment, money is tight so if worse comes to worse Im going to probably end up doing it myself..

Hey. I've been here a little while now, fun place to hang out. I've got a few builds under my belt. If you need help drop me a line. I get together with the CT Rockers when ever I can, similar minded people, good times. Post up some pics so we can get an idea how big your project is.
