I've done that before and can appreciate the time it takes to do it! Nice!

Saw the pics, got inspired, bought a Dremel and went ahead. What a job! Annoying nooks and crannies, but it looks good.

I used the steel fitting. Cleaned up real nice. Now what do I do to protect the surface?

I didn't use anything.. a little mothers once and while will work great... no one will see the center carbs anyway.. so if you take off the tank and get in there and do alittle finger polishing they will be good..

Mostly these and the smaller pointer ones..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/36pc-BRASS-WIRE-CUP-WHEELS-BRUSHES-4-DREMEL-TOOL-CMB38-/320419030924?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D320419028685%26ps%3D54
But in brass..The metal ones tear up the carb surface... take your time ..use safety classes..the little wires brake off and will stick you in the eye.. then go over with mothers polish..

Pic added in case eBay link goes away.  ;)

The Harbor Freight near my house has a blister pack of those for about 5/6  bucks.
