Topic: Drilling Coil Info needed

I had found some info a while back on coil but computer crashed and can not find info my wires are crap and broken and trimming will cause them to be to short. so I M going to trim them off and drill them out but I need to know how far I can drill into coil before I go to far. I figure will try this first before I buy new coils. What do I got to loose.

I admit I haven't had to mess with my coil wires. So, I know nothing.

However, can't you just trim the wires back to a good area and use a "wire splicer" and new wiring from there out?

There was a recent post in which Nortstudio posted a pic of the "splicer".

Others who have done this will get to you.

I did what Gaither said as long as the old wire are good say 3" from the coil it works fine got all my parts from Z1 splicers 7mm copper stranded wire new caps most if not all were NGK. The tank covers up the splicers. That plus running a relay setup gave me the best spark. most of my problems turned out to be the caps two had 0 ohms the other two were 2 to 3 ohms oddly enough (or at least I thought) the bike did not run to bad but I really noticed a difference.

Try this, i did it and all my no spark and shorting problems went away.. just make sure to trim alittle at a time

I just resurrected that thread with a comment.  That method works out great, and the 500F epoxy is very easy to work with.  I didn't end up painting mine, but I did wrap them in electrical tape to make them look a little nicer.

If you go the epoxy route, then make sure you DON'T leave any gaps.  You don't want water getting in there.
