Help identifying a Headlight bucket
« on: March 09, 2011, 02:58:17 PM »
I really like the headlight bucket on this, anyone know what it is? I guess given how much they say was spent it could be custom.. but i figured it was worth a try.

The Honda CB's from the middle to late 60's used something that looks similar, as did BMW's from the early to middle 70's. It was pretty common during that period to have a speed and tach built into the headlamp, and I'm sure there were plenty of other makers that also used a similar setup.

yeah, I looked at some of the old honda ones and they either are not round or are too small. The BMW ones are crazy expensive.. may as well buy the benjie.

Some of the sixties yamaha two strokes with knee pads had something similar with the speedo built in to the top.

Now that I look for a pic it seems different shaped.

From the side it looks like a 1966 honda cb450 bucket.

i think the gauge sticks out a bit more on the 450 and also isnt round. Maybe this was custom made.. I just really liked the proportions of it, not shaped too much like a tear drop but deep enough for the gauge.

that's the one that i bought  :D. be sure its the size you want. the tach/speedo hole is filled perfectly by a mini. and the actual headlight is only 5" so its all daytime riding or one of those HID conversions
