Any Honda CB450 Nighthawk experts/owners here please?
« on: March 09, 2011, 09:29:41 PM »
I just received an email about a 1983, no papers, "good" shape, hasn't run for 2 years, needs a battery for $100 or best offer. What are these bikes like? Collectable? I think it would make a good runabout for me or the wife but I know very little about these bikes. Thanks for any help you can give me. I can look at it on Friday.
Cliff.

Easy, light and reliable beginners bike.Pretty quick for it's size and age too.
My wife rides a CB 400N and the engine is basicly the same, but smaller bore.

Good commuter and as leino said light and reliable.  However,  that 100 will turn into 500 in the blink of an eye.  If your state requires a title, it can be a nightmare to get one and can cost anywhere from 200 to 400. Battery 70, new tires at least 200.  Carbs will have to be taken apart and cleaned.  Nice bikes but not collectible. It is a parts bike, reasonable at the price though.  My .02...Larry
