Hi everyone,

First of all, this is a great forum! I have been reading around for a while since I started looking for a CB 750 a couple weeks ago. I just found one on Thursday! Saw it on craigslist in San Antonio (I live in Austin, TX 80 mls away) just 2 hours after the seller posted it. Called him right away, drove down, bought the bike and rode it back home in the middle of the night! Great experience and no issues with the bike...need to get my car back though!

The bike is a 1977 CB 750K, 37,xxx mls, Vetter fairing with original Radio and speakers, engine looks and runs amazingly well, the seller has ridden it frequently. Leaks a little bit at the head gasket and runs really rough when cold. Engine, wheels and exhaust look amazing, just minimal surface corrosion, will all buff out and look great in no time!

Tank is without any dents, however paint is ugly (leaking brake fluid). Side covers are there, but the right side has a crack, also need painting. The seat is a solo seat from a Goldwing, need to find an original seat. Everything else like tires, chain sprockets, fork seals are fine, needs new brake pads in the front.

Overall I am very happy that I have gotten the bike for what I paid for it. Next steps will be to remove the fairing (anyone interested to buy it?) get a decent tank-seat combination and turn it into a nice cafe racer.

If you made it all way back from San Antonio on it then it sounds like you did ok.
Post some pictures so was can make fun of the seat!  ;D

Okay, here you go. Not sure whether I can join the rally...still need to work on the front brakes and get a decent seat, but thanks for the invite! So is there a CB club in the area? Would love to meat some people...

I go down to the austin co op each month to work on my bike. and there is the motorcycle night at the draft house. I havent been to that though, live to far away to imbibe.

I actually went to the vintage bike night in Austin, I will take my bike tomorrow, sloooowly since basically no front brake.

Heck just get it running right and ride it like that.  It does not look bad at all.  In fact, maybe you should finish it out as a bagger.  There are a few around like that.  If the Vetter does not have a radio in it, put one there, they can handle it well.

Still have the Harley if I want to ride with fairing, plan is to take it off and sell it. It has the radio and speaker until, the seller said it works, but haven't tried yet. Anyone of the CTex locals having a seat for sale?

Looks nice and will look better with the Vetter off.
There is no "club" that I know of, but there are at least five of us in this area that post regularly on here.
I'm hoping we can all get together for the Rally, you could ride your Harley if your CB isn't ready.
I bought a seat in very good cond for my K7 from a fellow forum member for $75.
Check the for sale forum and post an ad in parts wanted too, they're out there, the cafe guys don't use 'em.

I got momma's for about $35 on eBay but it is not perfect.  But then, it did not have to be.  Hopefully I go this carb chit worked out now.  Then it will be cuttin' time.
