Turn Signal Buzzer - '76 cb550
« on: March 27, 2011, 10:06:00 AM »
I intend to remove the turn signal buzzer from my cb550.  The PO covered it with cotton balls and duct tape in an effort to quiet it.  Curious about what I need to do with the wiring. Should I disconnect something up the line, or can I simply pull the one bullet connector and snip the wires?  Don't want to cause a short somewhere up the line.

Also, any tips for getting the pile 'o wires out of the bucket without undoing all the connectors?  Is this possible, or should I suck it up and start marking and unplugging?

Thanks.

Don't have an answer, but looking forward to what people have to say, because I am asking myself the exact same questions  ???

You can just disconnect it. Mine was mounted but not hooked up. I found the wires and figured I'd give it a shot.

Nope.

That thing is LOUD! I just redisconnected (is that a word) the bullet clips and all is fine.

I reconnected mine last fall, it brings a smile to other SOHC-4 riders, an annoys people at red lights.   All good fun.

Plus you can tell your charging system is functioning by the increase in beep frequency when the rpm goes up pulling away from the stop.

One wire in the headlight bucket to disconnect, nothing to it.

I think I've had enough "fun' so mine will be disconnected again soon.

Thanks guys.  I pulled the two bullets and got the buzzer out.  Getting all of the wiring out of the bucket seems impossible without unplugging.  I guess its time to suck it up and start disconnecting.  As with everything else on the bike, its intimidating looking at doing it for the first time, but not so bad once I'm at it.

When I did my dual disk conversion on my 500 I got the front forks and all the brake parts from a forum member.  He threw in the triple tree and fork ears as well.  The ears also had the beeper on it.

Now understand that the 500 didn't come with one of the things, so I'm looking at this thing wondering what it was and it dawned on me that this was the dreaded turn signal beeper!  I know from others posts that many people don't like these things and they disable and/or remove them.  I hooked it up to a 12 volt power supply and it blared out its note loud and clear.  All of a sudden I thought of all those times  I found that I've left my turn signal on for miles and miles, yes I'm one of those guys.  So, while I haven't done it yet, I've decided to hook it up!  I am, however, not totally stupid, I'm going to install a switch in line with it so that I can disable/enable it at will.

My 750K3 has a button to silence the buzzer-maybe you could find that switch...Larry
