So, I bought her for $800 bucks from craigslist, does not start, no chain, no sprocket, no brakes, fuse box had bolts as fuses, but the gauges did light up when I turned the key on (woohoo) and not I'm thinking I should of paid a bit more for a nicer starter... BUT that's neither here or there... So far, the shopping list consisted of... master cylinder repair kit, ignition switch assembly, oil filter, clip-on handle bars, headlight bracket, clutch and brake lever, bearings all around, brake pads all around, front and rear sprocket, chain, spark plugs, tach and speedo cable, tank, petcock, front caliper and 4 to one exhaust! All this just to get her going.
Yet to do: strip and powder coat frame, rims/spokes, and some accessories black.
strip down the engine and go through it completely (yikes) considering the oil was milky white when I drained it...
sand blast and clean all parts, new bolts, screws etc...
find/build a low profile cafe seat (like Kott's Cafe bike)
clean the tank i just purchased
a whole lot of sandblasting
Yet to purchase: seat, tires, wiring harness, headlight, tail light and blinkers, rearsets (if i still have the funds) grips, and what ever else breaks when I go to remove...
Final product... black frame, black rims/spokes/hubs, charcoal gray metallic paint, clip on bars and if I'm daring, relocate the batter to the back. She'll be a low, streamline sexy beast! I'll keep posting, weather is warming up (so cal warm) so garage time will increase!
