Ground to motor and frame or just frame?
«
on:

Can I ground just to the frame somwhere other than stock or does the main ground have to be on an engine hanger bolt? Does the motor need a specific grounding point or (if it needs one) will it ground through the hanger bolts?
Thanks

the motor will ground thru it's mounting bolts if the surfaces are cleaned back to metal

Scunny is right, but since there are electrical devices on both motor and frame,
they both need to be attached to a ground source.

Cool. thanks guys! I kinda thought that was the case. My frame is powder coated and I want to be sure where my ground NEEDS to be before I start any sanding.

I think it makes sense to do it like the factory did. The largest load your bike will experience is the starter. That's why the big ground cable from your battery goes to the engine mount bolt (the starter is grounded in the engine). The small green wire near the seat latch is important as well. Bikes mis-behave when the little green one gets a corroded/compromised connection to the frame.
