'83 Audi UR quattro here; bought it off Ebay a couple of years ago as a project & took a lot of work to get it sorted, is great now. Outrageous fun to drive, goes around corners faster in the wet than my Seeley does in the dry. Still prefer the bikes though, so it doesn't get used so much (also because of 15 mpg and $8 a gallon here...). By the way Proteal, that's a beauty you have there.

Hey 6pk, ANY time you need a place to park one of those mopars, don't hesitate to give me a call. You won't even have to deliver or pick it up. That's all right, you don't have to thank me. Later on,

Bill - if you can supply the fuel to drive the 6bbl 496 3.91 runner almost any distance - well you're doing alright. I have to wave 2 twenty dollar bills in front of it just for it to start. ;D The drop top 'cuda needs a total resto and I'm wanting to put a 528 hemi into it. The original 383 can sit in the corner with the Super Bee's original engine. But by the time it gets to the resto stage fuel will really be brutal. :'(
One of the main reasons I got back into the bikes is that the car parts are gone through the stratosphere in price. I can build a bike for the cost of a few parts for the cars. And I'd sooner be working on something that sitting around on my hands while trying to save up money.

6pk, I hear you. I'd be lucky to be able to afford enough gas just to be able to warm
up that 6pk.(even though I'd like see it and hear it run) I've got enough of a problem
keeping gas in my 1500  Conversion van w/ the 360. I've to get the trans fixed in my wife
94' Grand Voyager and then I can get some relief in the pocket book. I've got a buddy who
seems to have a pretty good cash flow. He has a red 74' Cuda with a 360 and I don't even
know what all he has in it but, it sound tough and runs fantastic. His wife drives a new Dodge
Daytona Pickup and has a lime green 72' Cuda. His son has a green 69' road runner coupe.
This guy seems to be doing something with these cars and others all the time. I don't know
about his wife but he is the body shop foreman for the GMC dealership in Fort Smith,
Arkansas. He offered to help me get myself another 66' Charger or 69' road runner but, I
don't know how I could pay him back (much less be able to afford to build it right. That's
another reason I'm into the bikes so much, at least I've got a chance to do something with
them (so far). Later on, Bill

I agree with the crazy price of fuel.
The 55's little 350 C.I.D loves 87 octane, with it's ground pounding 9:1 compression  ;D
I put about 100miles on the car , with a few buddies this past saturday, and got price
shock at the pump. My other friends have much higher compression (12.1 - 14.1 ) , so they
cruised allot less then I did, with them paying over $5 a gallon for race fuel.

I really need to get the CB running, as it looks to be my main mode of transport this summer, as it gets the best MPG outta my "fleet".. Even my Ford Excursion turbo diesel's fuel is over $3 a gallon..

I need a horse........

The new Offal County, Jesse Junk, Billy Lame, etc, I don't consider bikes in the least. Rolling abortions at very best, proof that fools and their money are soon parted at worst. And to hear that they are getting $100,000 plus for those is just incredible. They appear to be cookie cutter versions of each other, save for slightly different bends in the pipes and different paint. But its the TV rights that are making these guys, not the "bikes".

proteal, you like bikes and you like fast cars.  if you had to choose between the two (hobbies), which would you pick and why?  just curious.  thx.   :)
If I had to choose, I would def. go with cars. All of my friends I have are , one way or another due to the same intrest. Some from drag racing, some from car shows/cruise nights, etc...If money wasn't an issue , I would def. have a fleet of cars, Jay Leno Garage style  ;D Everything from full-out tube chassis racecars, to cruisers, exotics, etc.. I got into bikes becasue of the much lower cost to "have fun" then with cars, especially older/muscle cars. Not to toot my own horn in any way but I spent allot of cash to get my car I have now, and the thing has no power. I could of bought a turn-key 8 second car for the same proce I paied for the 55, but that is not what I wanted. I bought the car I had always wanted, down to the color, and can make it fast in due time. Space is always an issue as well when it comes to cars, as you can pack a garage full of bikes in the same space one car takes up...

Right now I am good with the CB, the 55, I have a 2002 Ford Excursion 4X4 with the 7.3L Turbodiesel (which runs high 14's in the quarter , import car eating daily driver) , and a few other projects here and their. Would like to get another bike, something more streetable, maybe a Buell or something, but we will see...

My original baby is my 71 Cutlass Supreme.  Got it my senior year in high school and it has been just rotting the last few years.  If I can come up with about a thousand cash I can rebuild the engine and at least get it running again...man I miss her...

70 4-4-2 here since 1973 and a 67 Vista Cruiser under construction.  I have had numerous musclecars over the years and a couple drag cars as well.   I came of age a the end of the true musclecar era and had the honor of also owning the following at various times.  It's no wonder I ride an old Honda, it feels new to me.

69 Hemi Superbee
69 SS/K Dodge Dart
68 4-4-2 Turnpike Cruiser
66 Ford Fairlane
55 Chevy 210 Del Ray
56 Chevy 210 2 dr hardtop
65 Ford Fairlane Sport Coupe
66 Mustang
74 Nova Spirit of America
74 Firebird Formula

I bought my first car, a 1970 Mustang fastback with 351 Cleveland engine for $2000 in 1974. I passed on a 1969 model with 428 Cobra engine for $800 because it needed work and I didn't have the time!
Nice to see Ford coming back with retro-styled Mustang. Wish the nose wasn't too short. Looks more like the mid-1970s Toyota Celica!
I also had 1977 Camero but it wasn't the Z28 which I really wanted. My friend had a 1979 Pontiac Trans-Am but transmission fell out because factory guys didn't tighten the bolts! Ah, the good'ol days of American workmanship!
The only classic, if you can call it that, that I have now is 1964 International Scout. I also have 1978 Volvo 262 and 1983 Mecerdes turbo-diesel but none are musclecars. I do miss the late 1960s and early 1970s American sportscars, I think they were the best cars made! Maybe that's why they're making a comeback. I was too young to buy them new but I corrected many brochures! Smartest thing I did as a kid. I also have most of the motorcycle brochures of that era.
I thought the new Dodge Charger fell short (by a nose!) but the new Challenger looks right on! Even with a short looking nose!

reminds me when i was a teenager, i bought a nice 1965 corvair monza (140 hp, 4 spd) from a friend, and his mom missed it so much, they bought it back from me a few months later.

replaced it with a 1968 mini cooperS, but that only lasted a few months.  then settled down with a couple of datsun 510s for the next 10 years.  they were a great cars, even if their bodies looked like swiss cheese after 2 or 3 canadian winters.

my current hobby car is a hyundai accent that's pretty quick by 1960s muscle car standards:
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/video/player.wtdr/wOTU3NzkyNnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D

even beat a shelby cobra once.  (he blew up on up the starting line  ;D ;D ;D)

if i had it do over again, i'd do a 50s/60s muscle car.  depending where you live, modifying a new car is getting pretty risky in terms of insurance coverage and emissions testing/compliance.   and it's only going to get worse.

i'm just getting back into motorcycles, and find the experience more fun and thrilling than a quick car.   even riding the m/c to the corner store is a more intense experience (potential danger) than taking the car to the dragstrip.

but might feel different if the hyundai was running in the 10s.  ;D ;D ;D
