SPWG and I have been in contact with each other to set up the handoff place and time in Hancock, with the assumption that IT would head south to DC for the night. Although those plans are not locked in, they do allow IT to visit DC. The other route will circumvent DC altogether.

Paul, that is great teamwork. Can you map out the route either on a fresh map or the existing one.  Thanks again Paul.

Bobby, SPWG posted a map on post #3 of this thread. I'm not sure that's what he plans to do, but I guess we'll have to wait for him to respond.

my posted map was a proposed route... But open to options.  I won't have the time to roll it all the way through PA as planned in the most recent route. If it goes that way, I'll be glad to meet up and do a north of dc (anywhere between York and Baltimore) to DC then into lewes route.  Someone else will have to meet up and do a hancock to york leg.

SPWG,  The route Bobby posted was real close to what we had planned for PA from the onset.  If you want I can pick up in Hancock and we can meet somewhere between southern Pa  and Baltimore for a hand off, or we could meet in PA and ride out to Hancock together.  Let me know what you think...Larry

Thank you Bobby,

SWPG seems to be a key since he wants to go to DC.  If SPWG wants to come south from Lancaster to see the Baltimore, Hon, I may be able to make the ride more interesting than Interstate 83.

Only a suggestion, I sure don't want to alter anyone's plans.

SPWG suggestested
1. Hancock
2. Lancaster and York
3. DC
4. Lewes Ferry
5. New York

Another possibility puts SPWG in DC overnight on 5/22, important if Hancock is PM.
Another order is
1. Hancock
2. DC
3. Lewes Ferry
4. Lancaster and York
5. New York

Nice route Larry, now if we have the riders we have a plan.

Mootan,  that is a good route but it seems the one Bobby posted is a bit more direct.   Hancock to Lancaster to DC then to Lewes/Cape May.  22 could be pick up in Hancock, overnight near Lancaster(I live close),  23 to DC and Cape May, 24 on up to meet NY riders.  Seem plausible?...Larry

Hey, let me throw something out there. I only suggested Hancock as a handoff point to make it easier for someone from the DC area to pick IT up from me. If it makes easier for anyone, we can change the handoff to somewhere in southern Pa. Let me know if you want to change and we'll work it out.

Cool, Lancaster to DC.  Here's a friendly route that drops you just above the Fort McHenry Tunnel to DC.

I haven't done route 222 for twenty years, but I remember lots of two lane highway and some stoplight towns.  Route 1 has some gaurdrail sections for WOT, route 152 is a straight road with a few traffic lights and route 7 is a well maintained road with suprisingly few traffic lights.

Google says it adds less than a half hour, but the trip into Baltimore on 83 is unpredictable and the ride around west Baltimore on 695 is a little less predictable.

How do I say this?

I'm not comfortable WOT on the freeway, because there are troopers waiting for it.  No that's not it.

Some riders have a different idea of what a perfect ride is , highway or twisties... Oh bullsh$t.

Highway riding is freaking boring, teleport me...I guess that's not right.

I give up.

Anyway, if you like the map, PM me and I will scout the route and report.

Don't know if this is throwing a wrench in the works or not but...

There is a classic motorcycle show on 5/22 in Clarksburg, MD. Clarksburg just happens to be right in the direct path from Hancock to DC. The show runs from 10am to 5pm.

Might be a cool place to stop and get some pictures of GZ, and to look at some vintage iron.

Convenient to both a major highway (I-270) and nice backroads.

Let me know what y'all think.

When might y'all make it to Woodstock?  What you do between Hancock and Woodstock is up to you.  We need to get the handoff date settled as there are a LOT of guys downstream that need to make plans too!!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
