re licensing issues

Anyone know the legal issues with re registering an old vehicle?
 
 i'm asking because i found the rickman im trying to restore in the shed of my house i bought about 3 years ago. among other things such as tools , pool table and some furniture. 

now i guess i'm just worried about putting money into it and then finally, at the end. when its all finished. i wont be able to ride it on the road :(

Contact the department of transport first and see what they say about the numbers, tell them you bought it as a pandora (in boxes lol) they should be able to tell you if theres going to be any problems such as stolen or listed as an insurance write off.

Mint looking bike mate  ;D  Very tempting but for the most part i'm looking forward to the rebuild.  see how i go with department of transport tomorrow! will let u know ))

Well good news. Licensing department said the engine number has never been registered in aus at all and has no history of being stolen or written off.

She said I would have to fill out a statutory declaration on how I've come across the bike and get it over the pits, and all good! :)
