Post Office rant...
« on: May 11, 2011, 09:09:02 AM »
Our USPS have now rung my bell: more than 10 of my packages since January, either within the U.S. or to Ireland, UK, or Canada, has been "lost" somewhere and they can't find them, trace them, even with their little green "tracking" sticker that costs $.70 extra...

So, I'm sorry to say that I may have to switch to something like Fedex Ground or UPS or something, which means I will have to charge quite a bit more for postage soon. I don't know what else to do: this amounts to over $300 in losses to me from these irresponsible #$$hol3$...  >:(

So, I apologize to everyone in advance, but my shipping rates may now have to rise unless this miserable operation comes up with either my missing packages or some form (short of Registered Mail) or better shipping tracking.

My apologies to the many of you who have been waiting...and waiting...and waiting...only to find out that it never got there, for whatever reason excuse they might have [today].

Hmm. I thought a rant would help, but I'm still pi$$ed.  :-\

That is unacceptable.  You need to start going over peoples heads until you get high enough to be above the problem.  It has to be a local problem, too.  That high of a failure rate is way above the national average.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

I hear ya. I've had terrible experience with them and decided they are completely inept. I basically stopped using the USPS altogether unless I absolutely have to. My favorite thing they have done is return part of the packaging saying they lost the item but found the packing material.

Pay a little more now and guarantee that the item gets delivered.

Don't even mention the USPS to my wife or she'll go ballistic.  She works for a not-for-profit publisher, and the USPS has GOT TO BE THE NOSEYEST BUNCH OF.......well,
They require the company to report to them:
 how many items were printed
how many were mailed
how many are in inventory
how many were distributed and not mailed
AND THEN.....they want the publisher to supply the USPS with a copy of the item with all of the "Ad's" x'd out for some stupid reason.  And THEN, you have to fillout all these forms and heaven forbid if your "I's" are not dotted, and your T's aren't crossed on the forms 'cause they'll bounce the WHOLE thing back to you and make you do it over!!!!!!!  They're shooting themselves in the foot at every chance.

Hey Mark

I’m sorry to hear about all the lost packages and poor customer service you’re getting from USPS. At the end of the day it amounts to a significant loss to the small business man who relies on their service to provide timely and cost effective deliveries.

I’ve had pretty good luck shipping ebay items with the USPS, but some have been mysteriously lost in the postal abyss.

It’s unfortunate, because their flat rate boxes and pricing are a very attractive alternative to the UPS type carriers.

I must be an outlier. I have had nothing but good luck with USPS over the years, including a fairly large package shipped to a member in Europe and I was able to track it all the way, including mult-delivery attempts at the other end.

[Keeps fingers crossed]

I have had good luck with the USPS for international shipments. Use Express Mail for International as it is tracked and much tighter. FedEx ground is a bunch of freelancers...FedEx Express is still good. UPS International is thievery. There...I've just cursed myself.

i HAVE TO admit only using USPS for international shipments without problems,
even to Finland  from USA.

For USA domestic package shipping I only use Fedex as I have
had multiple problems with damaged goods using UPS.

peace,
michel

hope they find your packages soon.

Last time USPS "lost"my packages they found the theif in White River Junction, vt looking for motorcycle parts.

In case you work a day shift, you can't make it .

they are not in it for the customer.
