Topic: CB175 oil filter?

I at the store looking for a new oil filter for my impending oil change, and it's not listed anywhere.  I go home and check the parts fiche and nothing shows up.  So I dig into the service manual and find that it's a 'double-filter centrifugal oil filter'.  While the book is pretty descriptive on how to service this, I'm not familiar with such a beast.  How good do these work?  Anything that I should look for?  Improvements and/or upgrades?  I'm just digging around to see what the heck I have.

If it is the same as the 125/150 models, remove the clutch cover, you will then find it plugged into the end of the crankshaft.

It just unplugs.

It will probably have three or four small countersunk screws holding the front plate on.

Remove the screws, then scrape the crudd out with a small screwdriver.

Dead easy

The 350/360 twins had this too.  Wish it was a normal filter.

Actually, these filters work pretty good. As stated before....this is the same setup as on the CB350s. Any dirt or depris in the oil will be collected on the inside....sides of the filter housing. Of the motors I have rebuilt.....I have never seen enough in the filter to be an issue....that you should pull the filter on a reqular basis to clean. But....should you want to pull it and give it a good cleaning, you will need the special Honda oil filter nut removal tool.

My biggest #$%* is the 360 doesn't have the little access door like the 350.   You have to take the right side exhaust to get the case cover off.   Need to do it again soon.
