Cafe style turn signals
« on: June 03, 2011, 12:52:11 PM »
I was given these cafe bullet style turn signals by the PO of my bike and I haven't a clue how to mount them. He said that he didn't have the hardware but that I could easily find it. Anyone have experience with this? Here is an eBay auction of the same blinkers:

There isn't more hardware than the one nut, then just plug the wiring into the existing wiring.  These things just need a hole to mount through and, BINGO, you've got them installed.

But really, cafe style turn signals shouldn't be labor intensive...  ;D

Ha! I use those signals when I can, minus the bike helmet :D

I was asking because I may need to get some special mounting hardware if I can't find a good thread right off the frame. Just trying to dig some resources on it.

Just plug those suckers in. Pressure and the rubber ring will hold them in place. Make sure they are touching metal and are grounded. If you have an F and you attach them to the back of the frame double check them. I have a pair that didn't ground through the frame paint. You can get a special washer that will dig in a little as you tighten it or you can remove some paint.

I just bought these, and f**kin love them.  Dual filament available also.  Vintage, but not art deco.  Cheap, and build quality is sweet.

(edit) i guess I shouldnt skim, I thought you were lookin at buying those turn signals.  BUT ANYWAYS.

Yes I always smile at 'cafe' questions.

The whole point of this back in the day, and I never recall anyone talking about 'cafe racers' then, was to make it less like a road bike and more like a race bike and they don't use indicators, remove excess weight and customize it to your preference again to look like a race bike.

I drilled out the previous grab bar holes (threaded) and then just stuck them in there...easy peasy.

for the front i made a ghetto bracket ( for now) and then mounted lights in the front.   I will be changing them to bullet style like the rear ASAP I hate the LEDs i installed.

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.

What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

Thanks Ransack! I have those and have wanted to find out where I can get those in the event that I have to replace them sometime.

Mine mounted through the rear turn holes in the frame and they are the same size as the bolt in the headlight bucket so I used them as the bracket bolts. Looks clean and simple.

I picked up the same style only with a clear lense.  They seem to be less noticeable to the eye but are still plenty bright at night. They replace the headlight mounting bolt in the headlight.
