Is the drain hose at the bottom of the bottom of the air cleaner chamber suppose to be closed or open at the end? Does it make a difference?

Was doing some poking around down there and the drain hose was in bad shape (wrapped with electrical tape?) and a cap on the end was hanging on by a thread. Going to replace it with some tubing but wasn't sure about the cap on the current one.

I've taken the end of a camelback drinking tube and siliconed it to the drain tube. It doesn't let air in and you can squeeze it to drain condensation. just like Honda intended.

The tube from the plenum (still available) is open, but includes a foam screen in the end. The hose from the bottom of the Air cleaner housing is essentially the same tube, but originally was plugged with a slotted cap. Naturally, this is no longer available





 I just bought two of the tubes, then cut the one for the cleaner housing to length and plugged it up with a small plastic plug. It's a drain for the cleaner box that needs to be cleared occasionally, so the plug must be removable.

Tube should be capped to prevent air entry.
The stock tube cap has a slit in it so that liquids can weep out when there is no negative pressure in the cleaner system.
The cap can be pinched to open the slit, and allow anything collected to drain out rapidly.
