CB500 swingarm - is there supposed to be excess space?
« on: June 15, 2011, 02:59:10 PM »
Just put the swingarm on this CB500 and there is about 10mm of extra space between the swingarm and the frame (~5mm on each sides). I know that's not right. From the parts diagram I can't see that I'm missing anything but surely there's a spacer or two that goes there?

Left-to-right there's the nut, washer/cover, frame, swingarm, frame, washer, washer/cover, nut. Am I missing something?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Sounds like you are missing some pieces.  Besides the dust cap/seals, there is a 'plastic' washer, and a felt one on either side.  That would account for the excess clearence

Did you install the two end caps on the arm (#15 in the above list)? I've seen some try to locate these outside the frame, rather than on the ends of the swingarm. As usual, pics would help...
