I was about to pull the flywheel and have a look at the magneto to make sure nothing is groundig it out. anyone good with these old bikes??

check the kill button,is it the hold in and it earths type,follow all the wires and check any connectors by unplugging them,cleaning then replugging,pulse coil might be dead.

i tried to pull the flywheel last night. it wouldn't budge :( . so it sort of flared out the stud a tad and not having luck putting the nut back on very upsetting. so unless i can look at this pulsar coil i may just have to take it to the shop i didn't try putting heat to it cause i didn't want to melt any lacquer or plastic off the stator. chased the wires for a bit the kill switch has been removed prior to my owning this bike. i also disconnected the light connection trying to get it just down to sparking the plug.. I don't want to damage the stud any further so unless there is a trick to pulling this flywheel i may leave it to the shop that's going thru the bottom end.

you could probably use one of these?this is honda tool number 07933-0010000,i bought this as a kid for my xr75,its fitted heaps of bikes in the years,like yammies even,too bad you dont live next door.
