Hey guys, just joined the forum and am hoping you guys can send me in the right direction. I'm currently building a cafe from a 750 I recently bought, and am trying to figure out what to do about my master cylinder. I put clip-ons on the bike, and my master cylinder needs rebuilt anyway, so I'm thinking of just getting something different that looks nicer, and gives me a little more room on my clip ons. Having a built in brake switch would be nice as well, so I can remove that bulky unsightly thing from my triple tree.
I've been reading quite a bit on an array of different forums, and I believe I've come to learn that the stock bore is 14mm. Is that correct? Does anyone know what other model master cylinders I can get that would share the same specs as this one, but look nicer (aka black in color)? I also plan to add a SS brake line to the system, so if someone can point me in the right direction as to what type of MC I should look for, as well as a compatible brake line, that would be extremely helpful.
Also, if someone can give me a crash course in the terminology of the brake system, that would help me in understanding how all these components fit together. I understand the master cylinder and caliper, but things like bore, banjo bolt, etc I just can't seem to wrap my head around, making trying to fit all these components together a little more difficult.
Thanks for any help in advance.
