I would think, theoretically, yes.  I think to myself...what's the worst case scenario here, it doesn't hold and you need to find a new carb.  Its worth a try for the price of JB weld.  JB is supposed to be impervious to gas / solvents.  The trick will be getting it to form correctly, but I think that can be overcome with patience.  You'll need to shape it and such.

I'm pretty sure I had a set of "parts carbs" that I JB welded a post on.  I never used it on a bike and like said above, personally I'd recommend a new carb body over a repair attempt.  But I'd like someone to do it and report on the results...

You don't think corrosion of the JB Weld could be an issue?  I'm no chemist, but I wouldn't want that anywhere near anything going inside my motor.

I think the gas will eventually debond the JB weld.

Send your carb to big-jim to have it welded back on.

I had a crack in one of the brass over flow tubes.  I used some jb weld on it 2 or 3 years ago and it has held up just dandy.

I've got a smackerl at the bottom of my petcock bowl and it's doing just fine.
didn't use it to join parts, but had a pinhole leak and it is not affected by gas,
which it states on the product packaging.

Maybe this thread will help .

Failing that , I don't see how JB could hurt . If you think you might have it welded don't try and glue it first . The epoxy will contaminate the weld area .

I don't think so. I tried to use JB Weld to seal up a cracked overflow tube and because Oregon has a mandatory 10% ethanol mix, the JB weld turned into a rubbery putty after a couple days in the gas.

I did just that on a GL1000 carb a couple of years ago and I am still riding the bike with no problems. I did drill a small hole in the post and the body and added a small pin then used the JB Weld. I also put the float pin in to make sure it was straight.

Yep, evil ethanol turns the jb weld into leaky goo.

I have done exactly this to a CB350F carb.  The JB Weld held for a while, but it did seem to loosen on the post after several moths.  I was able to get a replacement carb body, so solved my problem that way.  I'd consider JB Weld a temporary solution at best.

I love JB Weld, can't tell you all the things I've used it on with great success, but I can tell you the one thing it didn't work on, overflow tubes in my carbs. Don't even waste your time.

Lots of different experiences with the stuff it seems. I have it sealing one overflow tube and as a repair on one float post. It's been fine for over a year, and we use 10% gasahol here. The key is to allow the stuff to cure completely, like 24 hours, before exposing it to gasoline. Also, don't use the quick curing version. Use the old original version.

I used it on a leaky overflow tube about 6 weeks ago. No problems so far. But there was almost a week lag between the repair and when I had the chance to re-install, so it was well cured. I haven't pulled the bowl to see how it's holding up. I suppose I should dp that just to see what it looks like.

mine had been sitting, curing, for 3-4 days before I used it, so I'm not sure how long it needs to 'set'.

So far, so good.

OR... you can get the part welded back on without drama or worry about it falling off or other undesirable happenings..
