Topic: Please help me "name that manifold"

Ive seen some manifolds that were two pieces but never one that was cut like this one.
Anyone have any ideas as to what it is?

That's an MPD Weber manifold. I have one just like it on my bike.

why was it cut?

It was made in 2 pieces. It makes it easier to mount to the head spigots with the bolt removed, since you only have to get 2 boots on at a time. They also made 1 piece manifolds that looked very similar. Get yourself a set of DCOE 40s to match it!

So the machining isn't an after thought or someone over the years "modding" good parts?

 Its second generation MPD.. made by Jerry Magnussen of Magnacharger fame
 First Gen was 1 pce, but mine is cut, and I know why.. Really east to pop in with only 2 cylinder, but mine moves around, because it is not positively fastened together like that.. so Idle or synch can change..
 That one pictured has some extra ribbing that the early ones did not.
 I have 4 different Weber manifolds for 750s at this time, but there is at least 1 that I have not yet owned..

The manifold are mine. I have had them a long time and they have never been used.

I was thinking of doing a small batch of sandcast copies for friends, if I did do you think there would be any interest? I don't remember the manifolds being all that rare.

For those who have sync problems on the split manifolds, try switching to a dual cable setup. I had a set 10 years ago that had a single cable linkage, I made a dual cable setup with a Kawi two stroke throttle cable and it worked a lot better and didn't go out of sync when the carbs moved around. I do remember making a support for the carbs and that helped as well.

 As far as I know new 40 DCOE's are around 400 bux each (not sure how close the jetting will be and may need begger fuel seat)
 How much do you think you can sell them for, cast and machined. ?

I dunno, it may be above my pay grade to cast anything that complex. I have only done a knife blade or two at a friends shop, but when I was down at Team Obsolete's shop last week I saw he had the sand casting equipment to do small cylinder heads. To be honest I don't even know what aluminum is selling for right now so.....let me do some research.
