78 cb550k air screw installation gasket/washer order?
« on: July 16, 2011, 07:48:20 AM »
Hello,
when removing the old air screw gaskets in the bottoms of the carburetors i noticed that in some of the carbs the washer was behind the gasket (right up against the carb) and in others the gasket was right up against the carb-- the washer between it and the spring.
I can't find anything that helps in my maintenance manual or online.

Does anyone know the proper order for the air screw assembly?
Is it the gasket or the washer that is supposed to be right up against the carburetor?

Thanks in advance  ;)

o-ring first then washer then spring and screw. so washer inbetween spring and o-ring is correct. also, on these carbs it's an idle mixture screw (IMS) so a little bit different than an air screw

A good way to remember the washer keeps the end of the spring from chewing up the o-ring
