550F senior high project
« on: July 17, 2011, 09:18:50 pm »
My son and I built his senior project last year...1975 CB550F he bought for $300 non-running with 9900 miles and free engine.  We painted wheels, spokes, engine, frame, had body shop friend do tanks and body work.  We built the fiberglass seat, 2nd try at it.  Rebuilt carbs and lots of scrubbing.  He sold it a month ago to get a better college car.  I bought a 1976 550k for $150 last month and have just started taking it down.  I will post photos as we build it back the same as the 1st 550.  I also snagged a 1971 CB450 for $100 with title.  It is rough, rusted, and under a tarp under my deck.  Are we nuts or what?  All my son's friends hang out at the house on weekends and the neighbors complain "Don't wake the baby!!!" This is Honda heaven.
The current 550 needs exhaust 4-1 or drag pipes.  I will wrap them so I am looking for a ratty set.  Got turn sigs and rear fenders if someone needs them.  I also came across a 18" Honda front tire with good spokes and holding air.  I got it because I thought it was a 550 tire/rim.  Dont know what it fits 350? 450?  Its for sale cheap.
