Speedo cable help
« on: July 19, 2011, 09:05:29 AM »
Hey guys, I'm tryin to get my front hub finished up so I can get it on my bike. I don't kno what the hub is, other than opinions from guys here, so I need a little help. I need to get a speedo cable for the drive, I'm posting a pic and I would like to kno what cable I need. Thanks in advance. Love the site.

I don't understand the question. That's a speedometer drive, you need to get the matching cable.

Are you saying that you don't know what year it is so you can order the correct cable? You need to post a picture of the inside of the threaded area so that we can see what kind of cable end it takes, that should narrow down the choices.

What bike (including the year) do you have? Is there a reason you think that the drive doesn't match the year and model of your bike?

I have a 76 cb550 bobber. I bought an old drum brake front wheel from a junkyard.  I wanna put that on it instead of the disc.  I don't kno what it is for sure, but most r sayin a 350 or 450 of some year.

I would recommend that you check with your local shop to see if they have either cable in stock then bring it over and test fit.

However, even if you get a cable that fits, not knowing what bike it comes from means that the drive ratio might not match your gauge. Does the drive from the stock wheel fit?

Part of the downside of an unknown junk yard purchase, trial and error getting it to work.

You should post a pic of the hub itself.  If you can get a positive ID on the hub, finding a cable will be a lot easier.
