« on: May 01, 2006, 10:13:03 AM »
anybody know of a good source for shorter shocks for a cb750 K1.
I do not like not being able to stand flatfooted when stopped.
Thanks

I haven't found a retailer, but I have been keeping my eye on this ebay auction

item #4635312725
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4635312725&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I might bid on them so watch out!

Also, what about trimming the seat down an inch?

the ebay ones are exactly like what i bought for my k1.they will work with a very minor modification.the springs are a bit soft, but if you dont weigh what i do(235) you may not have any problems with that.i paid about 100 usd for mine.if you can get them for a good price buy em.they`ll be ok.

Short shocks
They are in the "Chopper" catalogue section of their site.

I am a little confused about these shorter shocks though.  Don't you then run the risk of your fender rubbing the top of the tire when you go over a bump?

wow, that crc2 online catalogue sure shows some cool stuff, and reasonable prices. I think a maltese cross tail light and rear view mirrors are in order.

I had 10'' shocks on my bike for awhile , and only rubbed the tire to inner fender a few times.
I am now running the 11'' "short-shocks" from the CRC website, and have not had any issues (I am 200lbs.) of tire to fender love as of yet...

how did you find the lowering by an 1-1/2" or so affect the look of your bike?  I am just interested in making it look a little bit better, don't really care about the handling.  Did you find it made a noticable difference?

Lower is always better , in my book.
I can def. say the bike is much easier to turn/ride now that it has been lower.
I dont canyon care the thing, but I can tell just from daily driving their is a difference.
Any time you lower the center of gravity on anything, it will/should handle better.....

I lowered my bike for looks, nothing more. If I gain something in the handling dept, thats just a
added bonus...

I bought a set of 11 1/2 inch shocks from Cycle Recycle (CRC2) last year for a project which I did not complete.  I would be happy to sell them for $50.00 if you are interested.  They are just sitting around in the basement.
