Comprehensive Insurance
« on: August 04, 2011, 07:55:10 AM »
Just curious what others may pay. I made some enquiries about insuring the 550, Swann & InsureMyRide aren't interested in anything over 30 yrs old so I gave Shannons a call. I was flabbergasted when he told me that for full comprehensive cover & valued at $3,000 the annual premium is $49.50. I also get salvage rights if they write it off.
I'll have to wait for the paperwork to arrive to see what the excess is, but I couldn't get the credit card out quick enough when he told me that price.
I forget how much 3rd party property was, but it was heaps more than comprehensive.
He said Shannons want the old bikes/cars on the road. Suits me,  :D :D :D

[Edit] I got the paperwork in the mail. The excess is $100. Can't beat that hey?

That doesn't surprise me, but it depends on usage, eg if it's on historic (club) plates and limited miles per year, where it's normally parked etc.
My 750 costs $60 and my 400 $50, with $100 excess and no theft excess.
I've never made a claim with them, but I hear they are very easy to get along with.

I guess it's so cheap cos us fanatics are pretty careful and look after our toys, and the damage claims are fairly few.
