chain\sprockets double check

Sorry if this is a tired subject but after reading a few things here and then looking at some catalogs I am a little confused. I'm about to buy a replacement chain and sprockets for my 750K3 and thought it would be a good idea to get some advice before I fork over the hard earned cash.

I'm currently running stock sprockets (18\48) and an RK 530 chain.
 
The local shop has JT sprockets at $27 front (17 tooth) and $53 rear (48 tooth), and a D.I.D. 530 100 link O ring chain ($82) - about $170 all in.

Can anyone offer any advice on potential issues with these chain/sprocket sizes, brand names and pricing?

I run 17/48 with a 104-link EK SRO-Z chain... I got them from feeBay for around $125 shipped. JT sprockets too.

The 104 could stand to be a bit shorter. It doesn't put the wheel at the front the swing-arm adjustment.

I assume for that much, the DID chain is O-ring? "They" say O-rings require more force to turn, but I don't think it's going to be noticeable on a stock bike on the street. O-rings require less maintenance. That's a difference you will notice.

As far as 17 vs. 18 on the front, I'm told that the 17 really wakes the bike up. I can't comment on that because I was going from a 14/43-630 chain to 17/48-530. I didn't notice a major performance difference. I did notice a difference in RPMs on the highway. You don't really want any smaller than 17, 16 at the smallest. A bigger rear sprocket would be the way to go there.

Try these guys first. Something sounds over priced but maybe I'm worng. I just ordered sprockets from these guys and they were the best price.

Just find out the JT sprocket number and type in in the search. box, it's easiest.

Is this an F model you have? I can't see 104 links fitting on my stock K model swingarm.

Stock chain length for your K3 is 100 links.  The prices you listed are pretty reasonable, except for the rear sprocket.  Z1 has the JT 48t rear for $35.  Of course you have to figure in shipping, but they only charge postage.  It's good to support local shops, but of course it's also good to support good online parts suppliers, especially when the owner is a long-time sohc4 forum member. 

As for the front sprocket size, if you want your bike to have quicker off-the-line acceleration and don't mind higher rpm at top speed, then you may want to try the 17 tooth, but if you're happy with the current set-up, then stick with the 18 tooth.  Z1 has both the 17 and 18 tooth.

Yeah, it's an F2/3... I can't recall if it's 102 or 104, but it's definitely up there.

Does anyone know if Z1 still have the JT sprockets? From the looks of their website they only have EMGO.
