Author Topic: my 1972 cb750 has an italian rear rim!?! (Read 4144 times)

Does it actually say Borrani on it? Should be stamped into the aluminum. When I put Borrani's on mine in 1980, the mud catching channel kind, I couldn't get Borrani in an 18" only 19". I had to substitute an Akront mud catcher for the rear 18".

ebay doesn't really turn up anything other than there expensive

is there any special about them other than made in Italy

As one of the few that actually had them on a CB750, I'd say its pure bragging rights. They are Italian and hence cool. I ditched mine in favor of shoulderless Excels. The shouldered design is difficult to clean on a street bike that actually gets ridden in the weather. Hence the "mud catcher" monicker.

And as i mentioned, I have yet to have anyone show me an 18" Borrani Record from that era. If you have one I'd like to know. More likely its a knockoff or an Akront, not a Borrani. The front is possibly a Borrani.

They do bring good money in the aftermarket, I sold both the Borrani and the Akront easily too cheap.

ow im not going to sell it i just thought it was weird you would put an aftermarket italian rim on a cb750. i thought there would be a japanese aftermarket rim.
