My new ride
« on: August 12, 2011, 08:58:45 PM »
A couple weeks ago, I found this 1973 CB350 beauty on Craigslist for $550 delivered. It was running and I bought it without checking it out in person first. Im stoked and couldnt be more thrilled. It has 9000 miles on it and was stored in a barn most of her life. Im thinking this winter of doing a full restore on it since it's not missing too many parts, it'll mostly be cosmetic stuff.

So far, I went through all the general maintenance and started to replace some worn parts: New tires, oil change, cleaned out the gas tank and carbs, new plugs, new points, valve and cam chain adjustment, replaced a coil, new plug caps, new battery, set the timing, new clutch cable (got it, but still need to install it), new front brake cable, new tires, electronic flash relay, new headlight bulb, hand grips and fuel lines.

This bike now purrs like a kitty.

For legal purposes, I have to drive with the headlight on at all times. The original sealed beam headlamp was blown, so I found a 37w halogen bulb and fitted it to my original headlamp and sealed it up. I installed an electronic flasher relay and 1154 bulbs for the turn signals to save wattage. I can now run the headlamp at all times without killing my battery. After an all day drive, my battery is still 12.5 volts.

Good one Johnny!!! Looks good for a $550 bike. I don't know why but when someone here mentions a 350....I always automatically think it's a four and not a twin. The old 350 twins are very bullet proof bikes.

Great looking 350! When I was still working at the Honda dealership years ago, we sold a ton of them. They were almost bulletproof. In fact, even though I love my 750, it would be nice to have one of those to run around town.

Beautiful bike. BTW, it may be titled as a '73 (year it was first sold and registered), but it's a '72. Keep that in mind when ordering parts. '73 is a CB350G and has a disc front brake. Colors were purple, green, and orange.

True. The badge on the neck says 72 on it. I used to have a 73 CB350G too a couple years ago. I regret selling it, so Im glad I have this one now.
