Shot Primary Chain, Here's my CB550K0 Rebuild Thread.
« on: August 27, 2011, 02:36:07 PM »
Well its August and my primary chain is totally shot.  I decided to pull the motor and try and get the bike back on the road this season.  I am going to do a simple/medium.  No frills but not skimping on things that need replacing.  So far I have ordered the basics.  Primary chain, cam chain, cam tensioner and guide, head gasket, base gasket, assorted rubbers, clutch kit and springs...

I pulled the motor a couple days ago...

Today I started pulling things apart.  I was very happy to find that my cylinders are looking great. NO signs of scoring whatsoever, even a little bit of crosshatching still visible.  I took some photo's of my progress to share.  I am sure this has been covered over and over but more pictures can't hurt.

I forgot to bring home my snap ring pliers so the clutch overhaul will have to wait until tomorrow.
" Why does anyone get offended by what someone does to their own bike? I dont get it. "

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.
