Helo!
This is my first post, so hello to everybody. I have a cb500 four and the small metall plate linking the carbs 3+4 is broken. what is the use of that piece and what kind of problems could occur? I searched the extensive forum but couldn't find any information.
regards

Is this a K3?
Must be. I can't find one on the earlier model carbs.
It's a Stabilization plate. Probably keeps the throttle shaft pivot bearings in a proper relationship when the engine gets "buzzy".
It also holds the choke cable in place.
Are you looking for an excuse not to fix it?

I think he means the very thin stainless steel plate between the adjusters, under the lock nuts. They move with the linkage so cant hold anything. I took mine off 20 plus years ago when they cracked, (almost 30 yrs ago, damn, I'm getting old
) never noticed any difference (except its easier to set carbs without the damn things distorting)

Hey!
Yes, I mean the thin metal plates under the adjusters. Thanks for the reply. I guess I won't bother with it.

Oh, those plates. I think those help keep the linkage ball and sockets from wearing (a little) from vibration. They are a pain, though.
Cheers,
