The camshaft has to be properly timed to the crankshaft. The installation procedure is in the shop manual and needs to be followed to prevent damage to your engine. It is not difficult to do but you want to be sure you are following the proper sequence.

A little assembly lube on the bearings and lobes is always a good idea
" Why does anyone get offended by what someone does to their own bike? I dont get it. "

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

+1 on the lubriplate engine assy lube (NAPA) and I think the manual says to use engine oil.  I have used both.

Special instructions for putting the rocker cover on too. Tie back the tappets lest ye bend a valve!

Full instructions with pics are in the FAQ.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Put in a 650 cam since it's already out!

ya i do have a 650 tach drive already but not the cam yet..... idk i havent had the time to go to the junk yard to pull a 650 cam..... actually had a bike half way done but couldnt figure out out to get the chain off...... and the bike is locked up so i cant move the engine to rotate the cam so i can unbolt the other bold to take off the cam gear....... so that bike might have been a waste of time.

and ontop of that if im going to pay for a 650 cam i need to buy one of those gauge thingys to measure the cam lobes so i dont buy a bunk cam
