Performance engine basics
« on: September 24, 2011, 02:47:08 AM »
Ive been searching for info but its all scattered. Forgive me if a post like this has been done before, but i thought it would be good to have a general performance engine breakdown somewhere on here.

What im thinking is if we could write it out as stages maybe, and what becomes necesary at what stage.

I'd like to get more power from my street cb750 at some point but im new to these engines.

Im thinking of a pretty standard build of big bore, headwork and cam, but i dont know at which stage better rods are needed. At which stage the valve assemblies need modding (springs, retainers etc), how far you can go on stock carbs etc.

Can we work out a basic stage system, i guess it will have many variables, but would help people who are new to these engines.

A rough guideling of what mods will combine for what sort of ballpark power figures then at a glance we can see how fast we can afford to go :)

What do you think?
