New to this. Got a compatability question
« on: September 25, 2011, 07:39:59 PM »
I am a newbie to the SOHC/4 world. I picked up my bike on Saturday and already I am blown away by the support that is out there for this community. I have a 1974 CB750. It is in the middle of an identity crisis. On one hand it thinks it is a chopper and on the other hand it wants very bad to be as close to original as financially possible. I found a set of original forks on my local Craigslist, the problem is that they are off a 1979 CB750.
Does anyone know if they will fit a 1974 CB750? Is there any sort of a cross reference out there tells what parts will fit on what year bike? I look forward to spending a lot of time on this site as my new bike starts to take a life of its own.
Thanks,
Mike

I'm pretty sure the trees are fatter and further apart.. the 79 was more 'cruiser' mode for the K..  BUT, if you have the trees you can definitely use those forks, but the bike will definitely have the stance of a 79, and not a 74.. pretty subtle difference, but different nonetheless

Thanks. Sad to say that the tree on my 74 is broken so I will need one as well.
