68 CB350 project
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:22:34 PM »
Hi guys
this is my first post, I found the forum the other night while hunting the net for info on how to do a few of the planned changes I will make to my 68 cb350 that I just picked up.  I have wanted to get a CB for a few years, and was looking at them in 06 , but decided to do a triumph instead. Did that build, had fun with it , sold it a few years back. I have been itching for something new to wrench on, and pulled the trigger on this 68 that I picked up off craigslist on wednesday night. here is a pic of it thursday morning in the yard.

Thursday my dad came over and we spent the afternoon tearing the bike down. took off everything except the front end , rear end and motor.  Felt really good with the progress we made, and everything on the bike is in really good shape.. I really cant believe this thing is 43 years old.
well I guess it can since it only had 6,100 miles on it . Must have been garage kept :) lucky me!

Today I put in 2 hours on the bike with my dad and step dad... we pulled the engine out and took off the stock foot pegs and kickstand. I am going to do a cafe build, so i need to start getting parts for mock up.  Here is a pic of the bike today

You found a 68 with only 6,100m in pretty good condition. I'd restore that and find a clunker to do the cafe build on.

I can I ask what you paid, and if it's in (was in) running condition?

the seller was asking 1500,  I got it for 1250..
It runs fine, it was kind of funny though , the seller had dropped the battery off at autozone to have it charged, so we had to use jumpers to get it started :)
I am pretty happy with it.
I dont know what these go for in other parts of the contry... but here in southern california, they have become pretty popular and the days of them going for 300-500 are long gone..
is what I paid about what you would expect for this bike in your area??

picked up a few parts today, got some brand new motobits rearsets for $180 today on craigslist :)
these are the rearsets I was going to order, and I cant believe that someone locally had a pair for sale that had never been installed! luck me... saved $50 right off the bat
