My answer above was for the 1,000,000th bike produced at Marysville, OH. Eric you are toying with me...

My next guess is a 1968 Honda CB350? Top speed 106MPH.

I motion this trivia challenge on a SOHC 4 forum should stick to SOHC 4 stuff. Too many Honda history esoterics that won't interest most the folks watching. I mean, we've already had a Honda car question? Whats next, name the interior color options for 1992 Accords wagons?

What Euro company and country in 1972 produced a multi cylinder copycat or better of the cb500 engine and what was its first displacement and model name. It later grew another 150cc ??.

He wanted to build the King of Motorcycles and had a meeting in California w/ American journalists and Honda USA folks, including Bob Hansen. Bob talked him out of building a twin.

The story I know best was of a poster picture that has a 300-lb biker atop a Trumpet Bonny. They were laughing at the picture while drinking one night, then looked closely and discovered that it WASN'T a fat guy on a minibike. Sochiro was struck with the idea that maybe there WAS a market for a large-displacement bike, which his accountant partner kept telling him could not possibly be so. When it came later to the engine configuration and displacement, and power, he was said to have looked at the BSA Rocket 3 with its 66 BHP rating and said, "Make it four cylinders. And it must be 67 HP."

Regarding the early 750 prototypes. I thought I saw and read where the first one had the 450 gas tank with chrome side panels and blue paint. That predated any of the all painted versions. Or what was that mockup anyhow?

Nope, here is the answer I am looking for.

Mr. Honda, in his reply to a question from an engineer, explained Honda's objectives in developing the CB750 in the January 1969 issue of the company newsletter (No. 124):

"When I went to Switzerland last June," he said, "a policemen on a white police motorcycle came into the park where we were. He then got off his bike. I was watching it, thinking what a small motorcycle he was riding. I was amazed to find it was a Triumph 750 cc. So, actually the motorcycle was fairly big, but it looked small since the policeman was so big. [Laughs] I knew then that our bikes wouldn't sell in foreign markets if we kept building them according to our Japanese perceptions. That's why I suddenly became enthusiastic about this, and it's why I started telling them to develop a bigger model as soon as possible."
