78 750k tank on a 74 750k

Hey guys, does anyone know if a 78k tank would fit correctly on a 74?  I have a stock bike that I want to keep stock but I also want to get some extra parts to cafe incase I would like a "face-lift" occasionally.  Anyone have any ideas?

i think the k8 tank is a bit longer and the rubber gromet that holds it down in ther back is different..... the spacing on the bungs underneath may be diferent also

Its questions sometimes like this that I just ask myself why bother, You know if you read that the tank is different from other models and is not a direct fit and if you wanted an extra there are a ton out there that are in your model years 70-76  ??? Think some people just want to be different ??

That could be the case except I haven't read anywhere till just now that they are different. thanks. . . but why bother

Great question! I have done this already...it can fit but it is longer and the stock seat will have to be modified...

Why do it? For the extra gallons of course. The K8 tank can extend your range between fill ups which is great if you are touring.
