I have a '75F and two young girls too (3.5 years old and 9 months old).

I think it's round about time to pull some 2am shifts in the garage.

Thanks for the inspiration.

The gauges  turned out great.  I messed up and broke my first speedo needle.  Ebay had them for $25 so a quick bid and then second chance worked well.  The aluminum vinyl doesn't allow too much light in but I don't drive at night that much.  The needles were painted white and then dipped the tip in red.  I think I am going to get the black surrounds painted when I get my fender and headlight bucket done.  I am not that impressed with the spray can job.

Your build is looking great! Just an idea to pass on to you, I have the same clock faces on my Pegasus bike build and I also noticed there is very little light coming through especially with those old bulbs. What I did was get those flexible red 6" LED strips and curled them around under the clock face, you can buy different colors, White, Red or blue.

They are far more efficient, less battery drain, easy to install and nice and bright. If you want I can take a photo for you so you can see how bright they are with your aluminum faces.

Just a thought as I was a little disappointed in how dim mine were. Keep up the good work!

Here you go! ....hope this helps!..I think I paid about $6 or $7 for a pair of them so the install was cheap. Originally I did the blue ones but they didn't look right but I'm pretty happy with these...plus you get to see your clocks clearly day or night as I keep my lights on!

Re: 78 cb750f 1st build YEAH PAINT DONE :)

I have gotten a lot of things done since the last update.  I have the exhaust mounted and the paint back along with my trimmed fender.  I have the rear turn signals installed and have the trim some wires and finish up the wiring in the headlight bucket.  I also have to finish installing the cables on the carbs and bleed the brakes.  It is getting closer...

Nice work. It makes me miss my 78f a little. I just didnt want to dump the money into the motor. And it was going to need it.

Hey guys got some time with the bike last night and it fired right up.  I had oil pressure at 75pounds at idle until it warmed up good and then it dropped to the normal 20#'s at idle.  The bike was smoking I was was fearing that the bike was going to go up in flames.  It was just all the paint, grease and header wrap cooking off.  Then we saw a drip.  Then it dripped more and more.  The drip is only at high oil pressure and it coming from the back of the points.  Crap. Crap. Crap.  All this work and I have a leak.  I guess it is better than than a melt down but it still sucks.

Did I mess up with the seal, did I mess up with the oil weight on break in?  At least it will look good on a trailer :'(

Any help on fixing the leak......

Hey guys, the bike is on the road.  It has been a long time and it still needs a tad bit of detailing on the paint chips but is it on the road.  I was able to put 10 miles on it over the weekend.  I will get some better pics soon.

Thanks for everyone that helped me with this journey.

Here are some pics taken outside this morning.  Still need to clean it up and detail it.  I think I might change the mirrors.  I am excited about putting some miles on it.

That is the plan.  It looks a lot different that it did last year.  Sounds so much better too.

I have been able to put almost 75 miles on the bike and it is a blast.   The trans shifts smoothly and the gearing is better with the 530 chain.  The bike starts to pull pretty hard a 5000 and keeps on going until 7000.  I still want to put some more miles on it and sinc the carbs but I am very happy with the way it runs.

Later,
Brent
