OK for all those who ever questioned it. A 600 cbr engine will fit if you remove the valve cover and oil pan. I will be removing the lower part of the backbone for now and bracing the entire frame later. this is for reference.

Just a word of caution. If you are fitting that engine you are hugely increasing the bikes power, by using the CBR swing arm you are going to stretch the wheelbase 4 to 6 inches, which will effect the way the bike corners and steers. I fully understand wanting to use a more substantial swing arm but i don't think it wise to be adding so much length......  Just something to think about...
If i was going to monoshock that bike i would go for something like the old TZ Yamaha's or the set up Tony Foale uses, it can work well on the 500-550 Honda's because they don't have the oil tank the 750's have....
Like this...

It is important to keep the wheelbase close to the original setup, especially with almost double the power....

I must question as to why that is?
It seems too short to me as is.
I feel like I am so top heavy I am always working to keep it upright.
I am trying to keep the dual shock setup as well.
I am def open to keeping it stock length but it handles like a donkey
nice pic

I'm not trying to bash anything you are doing so i would like to get that cleared up first.... ;D I have a modified GSXR swingarm on my bike.  My concern is that all that extra power is going to want a nice stable chassis. I would put progressive springs in the forks and emulators, i would brace the frame, definitely with that much power, and i would do something about bracing the rear section of the frame between where the battery sits {between the upright frame tubes, just above the swingarm} and fit some reasonable rear shocks. That is of course if you want it to handle well, if you just want straight line speed then 4 inches longer in the rear will help straight line stability but it slows down how the bike enters a turn, more effort is required to make the bike turn in. If your bike isn't handling well then it probably has crap oil in the forks, average or stuffed rear shocks and probably needs swing arm bushes. The small Honda's {500, 550} handle quite well and there are piles of guys here that racer them..   If you want to use that swinger on your bike and you want to use twin shocks,  just do what i did and remove the monoshock and shorten the arm. One of our forum members has a 500 race bike with a cut down GSXR750 swingarm, it bolts straight in and is definitely stiffer, he is running stock length with the swingarm...

...the oil pan is touching the right side frame rail and I need another inch. may just splice the frame around the pan like this:

Thinking about notching exhaust and welding it back up
and then building a subframe on the down tubes for the exhaust to fit in.
thought? ideas?

if I try to line up the sprockets the oil pan hits the right side and the clutch shaft is way inside the frame. I dont think i want to put on the late model swingarm but it would work because the way the motor wants to fit would put both sprockets outside of the frame and i could just build a chain guard. ???dunno yet

Maybe you could make some nice strong engine mounts and remove the bottom frame rails, use the engine as a stressed member part of the frame, or just have a new lower  frame section bent up to give you the required clearance...That engine really needs to be a bit lower in the frame.....  It fits in there well though.... ;)  With the chain alignment, i had some meat taken out of the rear sprocket carrier on the Suzuki wheels and have a 10mm offset sprocket for the front, if the smaller bikes like yours run the same size output shaft, CycleX have the offset sprockets for the front.... The sprockets should run inside the frame, outside is dangerous...

I thought about removing the bottom portion of the frame but still havent gotten around to calculating the stresses. In all actuality the original motor mounts are pretty daggum close to where I am already planning on offset brackets to go from the originals to the new motor mount holes.

I will try out my google skills and I get what offset is but you may as well have spoke french to me there. awesome input thanks so much.

with the mounts set like that I could def lower the engine as I really want to anyways for a lower center of gravity

Scroll  about 3/4's down the page, it shows both front and rear offset sprockets.....

Well, i am gonna have to sleep on it now. I just found out that the cbr swingarm is connected to the cbr engine. Therefore I could alleviate the chain alignment very easily and free but then it has that dog ugly rim.

or 65 bux for an offset sprocket. hrmmm
logic keeps slapping me in the face and telling me that a rim is more expensive than a sprocket.

That is unless someone has one for cheap ???  :)

Cool, good luck, watching with interest.

If you go with a cast wheel in the back, then use cast in the front, too.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

I'm subscribed.............................

I have the opportunity to pickup a 1992 CBR600F (2)? $400.00

Nothing wrong with it, just like to do something similar to this build.

BTW, if the length is close (I kind of doubt it is), you would be well off to fit the CBR front end to your CB.  Those forks are way better than the stock CB damping rod forks, even with emulators added.

With all due respect to Retro Rocket, I disagree about progressive springs - it seems that most suspension gurus prefer straight-rate springs.  With progressives, your suspension is just about guaranteed to be over-damped through the start of the travel, and under-damped at the end.

Progressive is the company name Syscrush, i have used them a few times and had nothing but improvement, i have some in my 43mm Suzuki forks as well, they came of a very quick race bike and are definitely good enough for me....

I need to source a cbr front end from somewhere. I didnt get one with these parts. I havent even put much thought to that part yet. I need to ask for a reference as to anyone that has done that kind of swap. Main question is what do I do about the neck and bearings????

Also, will these wire rims I have be able to handle as much power as I am about to run through them?
