detachable rear frame? i suspect you have a manx / inter frame....

nice one. Worked on disassembling a cammy KSS for a friend once, the engineering was wonderfully kinky!

the engine and tranny are in the frame!!!!




Marty did a great job on the set up. Look at all the room on the rocker box cover for valve settings.

worked on her a bit more,

clutch set up, man what a clutch :o
looks like the rear sprockets will line up pretty good, still have to set up some lasers for wheel alignment.
Make a steering stop, brake stays, rear mud guard, cables, man, and I thought I was getting closer.....

Belt drive and clutch,

Head steady, now I wonder if it would be better attached to the cross of tube at the front of the upper frame, it
already has a lug. Is that the point Norton used?



Oil tanks at the tig welders, but I just had to go ahead and put some stuff on to see the fit...

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

I got the oil tank back from the welder today, I don't have a tig set up so it was farmed out.
When I was at Mart's I was amazed by some of his art through the years. Hand hammered silver vases and
other items from one sheet of silver. Well, now I have some of his art, oil tank art. Functional. ;)

just a note to let y'all know I ain't forgot the Velo.
I've routed the oil lines and ordered a racing magneto cover which allows the use of double ended plug wires which are much easier to build than the standard plug wires for the Fairbanks Morse mag. I think I've decided on plugs for the beast and I'm resetting the timing back to 25 degrees advanced rather than the 37 degrees as was per factory with one plug. The two plug head ought to give a good burn with less advance and make it easier to kick start, if there is such a thing as an easy kick starting velo. :)

I've also got the brake stay made for the front brake.

I'll have to figure out my rear sets/foot pegs mounting. Also need to return the Velo intake manifold and shorten to allow a rubber mount since that helps cut down on heat transfer to the carb.

More to come, might even be cranking her up soon.

the velo has been run, I'm not entirely convinced I have adequate oil to the head so she's set on
the back burner most of the summer...it's riding time too you know. ;)
Wicked sounding when she runs, watch the horse in the background. :)

Made a tank strap and she's getting close to being ridden.

Beautiful bike RM, my mate Davey had a Mac Velo back in the 1980's and it was a pig to start, but once underway, a joy to ride. I was lucky enough to have a long ride in Victoria's "High Country" on a 500 Thruxton, what a magnificent bike, the tallest first gear I've ever experienced on a bike, but it was fast and handled like it was "on rails".

The owner had several Velo's, and raced them back in the 1950's. He showed me some KSS and KTT engines under a bench, and lots of hand cast parts. I must ride over to his place and see if he's still alive, he had quite the collection. Anyway, best of luck mate, it looks brilliant! Cheers, Terry. ;D

will pretty much put the GT all back stock. Soon as I sell her I'm onto the Velo full time this winter. I plan to keep the old Velo and hope to actually ride her one day.  ;) Best, Robert
