Hi from NE Ohio!
« on: December 07, 2011, 03:26:11 PM »
Just found this site today, and I'm also a first time rider! 27 years old, former corrections officer for ohio (laid off), and longtime auto performance enthusiast (gearhead). Its my first bike and I still only have my temps but its winter anyway, time to get wrenching!

Got a '78 CB750k FOUR from a relative in exchange for doing some siding on his house. Bike rode ok but it's got a little over 42,000 miles on it so I think it's time for some work haha.

from what I can tell already it needs:
-a good cleaning
-new rear shocks
-probably an engine overhaul due to milage.
-fairing is coming off. Don't like it.

He took good care of it, did all of the services at the required intervals, but ever since he got his harley he put it in the garage, it was sitting for a few weeks before i picked it up.

Bike doesn't look like this now, its in pieces all over my garage haha. I gotta get the engine out so I can start working.

Welcome to the madness!  ;D
Check those valve guides: with that many miles the late bikes usually wore them out.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

The demons are repulsed when a man does good. Use that.
Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another K8 around here.  I like the windjammer, its very Prince/ Purple Rain looking.
