k7 vs k8
« on: December 09, 2011, 06:05:46 PM »
what's the difference between a cb750k7 and k8? Reason I'm asking is I believe I have a '78 K8 and I'm trying to get new braided oil lines for my bike. Carpy wants 100 bucks for a set of two, I found a site where I could get them for around 1/2 that. But the site says they are for a 77-78 k7.

They are the same bike for your purpose. The purists call the K8 a K7 since there was no K0. If you look on Hondachoppers there was some head mods in 1978.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

sweet, that helps, now I can save some money  ;D

same goes for cam chain/drive chain? Hondachoppers just answered most of my questions, but does the "larger cam chain tunnel" mean I can still use k7 chains?

K8 had stronger valve springs from F2/F3, retainers and different keepers thus requiring different valves AFAIF simply due to the different keepers. Valves still 31/28. Other than that it is a K7
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

K7 has a two-piece brakeline with the switch on the triple tree.
Also adjustable needles in the carbs.

K8 has a 1 pce brakeline and the front switch is in the mc.
