So I'm picking up a fairing this weekend. I got a really good deal on it and couldn't pass it up! He had it on his goldwing. Does anyone have any advice on adapting it to a 72 cb750f I think I'm going to try and make some custom mounts for easy on off because I only want it on for long interstate drives. I do mostly in town but have a few long trips planned for this spring/summer. I'd really like to have this fairing for those trips.

It's also go an 8 track w/speakers. Has anyone upgraded the system?

Really looks great though why would you wanna cover that up. Normally here more about people taking them off than putting them on .

Haha well to reiterate it is purely for long road trips. I have several long trips ahead of me with some riding buddies. I would really like to have it to make the ride much nicer. This is why I want to make my own mounts to make it an easy on off because I don't want it on ever except for these trips.

Plus if I don't like it I should have no problem selling it for what I have into it.

Windjammer fairings were not intended to beautify, they were functional. I had one on a '76 CB550F and like Charlie1717 I used to take it off and on depending on the distance and weather. I smoked back then and I could light up and roll down the highway at 70mph and not have the wind burn up my cigarette in two minutes. It definitely made long trips a lot less tiring. I even had a set of what Vetter called "Hippo Hands." They were a protective sleeve that mounted on the bars over the controls and you slipped your hands inside. With the dead air space in there and gloves your hands would stay toasty in really cold weather. But they were very ugly.

I'll be doing the same thing (adding a fairing depending on mission profile) to my K6. I think they make a ton of sense for long hauls.

I won't ride without my Vetter.

I've had one or another on my K2 since it was new. On my K1 prior, after 300 miles I was tired from hanging on at the speeds I like to travel. With the Vetter, 1000 mile days are easy.

Yeah I took a little trip about 3 hours with a slight head wind. I was worn out quite quickly from the wind. I know it isn't the best looking thing on the bike but if it lets me drive even twice as far it will be worth it! Comfort over style. This spring I have plans to go on a few two day trips with long interstate drives. No wind and some tunes will make it a nice ride.

Thanks for the compliments on the bike! I love it very much and have worked hard to make it as clean as I can and have no plans on ruining it

Anybody have any recommendations on a quick disconnect setup? Any threads on that?
Also, has anyone upgraded or made the audio system any better in the fairing?

Your best bet is the brackets that came with those fairings (for the CB750). They're floating around on ebay and here sometimes.

I would get the proper bracket for the CB750. They are not hard to find. They are not labled as to what they fit so you just have to be sure you are getting the right one. Four bolts hold the Vetter to the bracket and four hose clamps hold the bracket to the down tubes. Looks like your turn signals would have to come off but I don't think you would need to remove the headlight bucket though you need to access the wires inside. I have one but have never put it on though I have mounted a few for others on different bikes.

I ridden some older GLs with Vetters and it make a BIG difference. I have 3 fairings here and at least 1 mount for A 750. Your headlight does have to come off because they mount into the fairing your T/s also monut to the fairing. Some of the older fairings the T/S mount to the side with the original stems, newer fairings have built in signals.. The mounts are BIKE specific because the way they are made but you can modify to make it work!!

About a year ago there were some new mount kits on Ebay. they may still surface from time to time. The next nice one I find near home, I'm thinking the same thing. I had one in the 70's and for a long trip they are the nuts. My brother had the lowers and you could ride late in the season comfortably.
However, I do prefer the look of the bike without one.

The usual installation requires removal of the headlight, but the bucket stays in place. On the SS, I think there is enough space to leave the headlight in the bucket, but since you disconnect it to plug into the Vetter headlight, it has to come off in the process, anyway.

It is a simple matter to remove the Vetter (5 minutes or less) and install the headlight ring again: have done it many times when painting the fairing and still wanted to ride.

I think the Windjammer looks good on the Cb750 if it's paint matched, I bought my K1 from my friends father in 1974, he put a ton of money in it, all custom paint and pinstriped White and gold, Wixom fairing Bates saddle bags, We were just teenagers and would just stare at it in the garage and dream, he offered me the chance to buy it, as he bought a water pumper GL1000. Your K looks awesome, I like riding with a windscreen!

Sounds like I should be looking for the mounting brackets. Hopefully I can find some! I wish it was matching paint but I will settle with black (best second option in my opinion). I'll be trying to make the on/off as quick and easy/painless as I can. Maybe some quick connects for the headlights and what not. I'm getting ahead of myself being I've haven't seen it nor another windjammer up close :p

I'm loving the bike! My manager lets me keep it at my work in the back where it is clean and warm! Alot of people are suprised to know it is mine when they come in being I'm only 22. Apparently we "youngins" only like the crotch rockets ha!

I just got a battery tender jr for the battery and am winterizing it this weekend. I'll be getting the Fairing tomorrow so that will be a fun mini project.

I'm not sure you can "quick disconnect" one of these. When I bought the 1977 CB 750K everything was gone up front. Fork ears, headlight etc. I'm pretty sure I have the lower bracket. I sold the fairing on CL for $50.00 and remember the guy telling me to keep it.

Also, there is a wiring harness that these thing need. Plugs into the OEM harness. Pretty sure he took that.

The CB 350 G I bought had a fairing. The only thing changed was the turn signals. The headlight, fork ears were used.

it took a weekend to remove and re make the viring and light..on my 550..the handle are also different,,so no easy vay..i have the lower parts on in vinter
in summer the engine gets to varm..so took them off...but liked to drive with it..and liked the store room,,with lock/key

It's not terribly difficult to make one of these come on and off quickly, if need be. Mine can be off and the stock stuff re-installed in about a half hour. I have a Windjammer II on a 750 K3 and I only needed to remove the stock signals and the headlight. The ears and headlight bucket fit in there just fine.

I plan on color matching the Jammer and lowers when snow is finally on the ground.

Also, don't knock it until you've tried it! I put 9000 miles on my 750 since I bought it (June 2011) and these last 500 miles or so with the Jammer have been some of the best all year! I'm a skilled rider, and can handle the wind, but these things make long distance riding an absolute breeze. Craig Vetter really knew what he was doing.
