Happy happy New Year from New Zealand
« on: December 30, 2011, 09:54:24 PM »
All your SOHC4 bikes are another year older and still more reliable than their modern counterparts. :)
It's raining pretty much all over New Zealand and has been for the last 3 days so celebrations will be a bit muted with fireworks displays cancelled etc.
At 54 I can't be bothered seeing in the new year these days and haven't for a while but the reasons for celebrating the turning over of a new year remains as true as it ever did, rather than a time to get so liquered up you wake up with your face in a pool of your own vomit trying to explain to the nice policeman why you are wearing nothing but a pair of womens panties and a traffic cone.
It should be a time of reflection of what has happened this year, the good and the bad, new friends and some we miss and dedicating oneself to making the new year better in some way either for others or even just for yourself.
To the SOHC4 international family all around the globe, I wish you a very very Happy and safe New Year, may you make that barn find you have dreamed of, may your engine troubles be few and far between (but enough to keep your posts interesting) and may your bikes stay upright and avoid the idiots in traffic.......bless you all......Hush.

Still 2 hours to go here Hushy, I'm sitting here drinking booze and watching some crappy doco on Foxtel called "Motorcycle Women" and I'll stay up to see the new year in. No traffic cone in my panties yet, but happy just the same. happy New Year! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

It's not as much the police as it is courts here. Caught a ride with an aquaintence from the bar, smelled a pig, told the driver and pulled over before they pulled up on us , was straight enough stepped out of the car to get my wallet and until I walk home without causing any trouble. Made it a 1/4 mile before they turned the light on. Here's what my lawyer says about the municipality in this  corrupt  town, forget it , appeal to the state court, a burden on you.

What do you want done?  It is bull#$%* and I am not sure why you were sober enough to ride in a car, yet too drunk to walk away from it.  You are entitled to a Non-jury trial and when convicted, appeal to district court and attempt to get a jury trial there, but most likely will only be allowed another NJT, but keep in mind you are are guilty when you walk through the door.  I #$%*ing hate cops!  Call me at the office if you want to talk about it.

If i you get booked for driving drunk and you get booked for walking over the limit {who decides what is too pissed to walk.?} then whats the incentive to not just drive drunk, either way you need to get home and either way your in trouble... :o I would assume walking drunk {or over the limit.?} would be far safer for everyone, than getting behind the wheel and endangering everyone !!  They wouldn't know PR or common sense if it jumped up and bit them on the ass...  Your cops seem to enjoy making criminals out of every one.... :o

Don't think it's just an American thing Mick, I got arrested in Sydney in 1981 just for being drunk and walking! Well, there was also a broken shop window, a police dog got punched in the nose and a cop got really embarrasssed, but I'm sure it was mainly because I was walking drunk............ ;D
