I'm in Baton Rouge.  I can ride anywhere between Lafayette and MS.  Whereabouts in MS?  I'll need to know the date and route to pound out the details.

.

Hope... great! I'm taking the back roads along the coast from Houston to Lafayette. I'll be riding in from Abbeville and plan to arrive around noon. Our original meeting spot was at Boudin and Cracklin Diner for lunch and make the GZ pass offIf there's a better meeting spot for you just let me know. I'll be riding my CB400F and would just as soon avoid IH10... if you know what I mean. Looking forward to meeting you. Feel free to pm me if we need to visit one on one.

Yeah, that I10 can be a beast.  Back roads are best.  Abbeville will be fine.

It's funny.  Every time I check in on this thread, there are no updates.  I'm away for a few days, and BAM!  Now there's a whole plan  ;D

I'm in Houston and plan to make some of the ride, along with some friends - trying to decide how much of the ride.  Can we get a play-by-play of places and dates?

When is GZ heading from Lubbock to Austin?

When is GZ heading from Austin to Houston?

Is GZ skipping DFW for now?

And . . . .  route.  What is it?

If we get all this information organized effectively, it should make it easier for riders to decide when and where they can join the ride.

And I am still down for hosting a cookout/get-together at my shop space in Houston for everyone who makes it.

On a side note:  Unfortunately, my engine rebuild keeps suffering setback after setback, so I don't think my CB750 will be rideable, but I'll make it on one of my other bikes.  I rode last year and don't want to miss this year.

*EDIT*
I'm gong to take a stab at my understanding of the current schedule.  Please correct this, as necessary:

Justin will pick up GZ in NM and will solo-ride to from the Lubbock-area to Austin.  He will reach Austin Friday, April 6th in the evening.

Whoever wishes to join in some Hill Country riding will meet up in Austin the evening of the 6th or maybe the morning of the 7th for some riding.

{insert big gap here - I'm not sure what's next}

Ride to Houston at some point.

Ride from Houston to Breaux Bridge, LA (~230 miles, depending on route).  Meet at 12, noon on Sunday, April 15th (hope your taxes are all done beforehand).

Yes, that is the schedule as of now. I don't want to set the schedule myself and are hoping for suggestions.
So here is a recap of the TX portion:

Justin arrives from NM and will be in Littleton by April 4th.
Justin travels to AUstin on Friday, April 6th. I suggest a meetup west of town to avoid traffic (RR 620 & 2222 area?)Does anybody want to camp? I can host camp night on Lake Travis in Lago Vista (this was a blast last year)
April 7th - Hill Country Ride.  No set route yet, but suggest lunch in Fredericksberg.
April 8th - GZ travel to Houston in the afternoon.
April 14th? - party at Arcitects shop.

Suggestions welcome.

Littleton is SW of Lubbock and very close (Justin lives there). He will have to chime in as far as the route.

The only DFW rider I have heard from is CBGhia (Joe) and he is ok with hooking up with us in Austin. Why don't you join him?

Hi, all!  The handoff with Proto in Tatum, NM went great!  Proto, I had fun!  Proto, myself, and gregimotis are going to try to get together sometime this summer around Santa Fe, NM for a NM SOHC four mountain ride!  I trailered my bike because my wife and three year old son wanted to come.  My son posed on my cb 750 for some pictures, the bike will be his when he gets old enough.  My cb 750 got Godzilla safely to my home in Littlefield, TX, a ride of 95 miles.  I had a enjoyable ride.  The wind was blowing pretty good for a half hour and then died down some.  My 40 year old cb 750 performed flawlessly and got 42 mpg going 65-70 mph.  Godzilla and I will leave early Friday morning for the 350 mile ride to Austin, TX.  The Texas SOHC four will be doing our annual hill country Texas ride around Austin's beautiful backroads.  At Austin, Godzilla will be handed off to find a new home on a different SOHC four and continue his journey around the world.  That is all for now.

I am all about camping, same place as last time.  They have the showers that are marble-lined and look nicer than any campsite I have ever seen.  LOL

A small group of us from Houston will make the ride to Austin on Friday and meet up with everyone for riding, camping and general debauchery.

My CB is still in pieces, so I'll be riding a back-up.  Just don't hold it against me  ;)

Then on the 14th, I am happy to host the party at my shop space.  I'll make sure there's plenty to eat, drink and be merry.  Lots of folks will be invited, so it'll be a good time for all.  Some of us plan to accompany Gnik Nus as he heads for Lousisiana, at least part of the way.
Does it make it any better to have our get-together on Fridayevening, the 13th?  My only thought is that would make Saturday, the 14th, available for heading east.

You are going to hate me, but I am thinking of trucking my bike down.  That way I don't have to put the topper on the back and it should make for a more comfortable hill country ride.  Plus, I have a secure place to lockup everyone's valuables while we ride.

I have invited Greenjeans to put his sandcast in the truck and ride down with me, but if he is out, and you would like, we can put your bike in the back and ride down together.  or I can follow you with the truck. It's whatever.

Trailer maybe?  This lowered one might be a bit of a struggle getting it over the hump on the way in the truck if there is a spot for it.  I had some monkey butt on that seat after an hour.  :)  I will need to get the foam redone someday.

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with trucking the bike(s)!!! In fact, support vehicles are encouraged. (GZ can't ride in the truck, though. ;))

A Friday night get together would sure be better for me. My route to Lafayette on Sunday (maybe a Saturday afternoon start?) at 220 miles or so, might make a later Sunday arrival there than what was originally discussed. I'm trying to stay flexible and not create a burden on my Louisiana contact (Hope) or my myself!

My plan was to take Baytown to Anahuac and the southern/easterly route through Sabine Pass, Cameron, Abbeville then Lafayette. My plans were to depart Houston EARLY Sunday am. I'm riding my CB400F and do not plan to "push" the speeds as I'm still sorting out a few issues on the bike. Route shows two ferry crossings and small roads so it is generally slow going. Can expect live and dead (road kill) alligator obstacles next to the water ways! A scenic ride that I've taken in the past. My wife was planning on meeting me in Lake Charles for a nite or two at the casinos on the way home, after dropping off GZ. Other riders welcome part or all of the way.

Well, John (Greenjeans) is out, so if you want, you can ride down to my house Friday morning and I have some good ramps and a sloped drive that makes for easy loading. Then we will roll out.

I have reserved two camp spots on Lake Travis in Lago Vista (same campground as last year), Fri and Sat night. Joe - your truck will be safe there.

Rather than me set a route "in stone", why don't we just look at the map on Sat morning and plan a general route and wing it? I know the area well and there are some great roads!

If you guys can get to the Austin area by 3-4pm, we could get a good ride in from just West of Austin out to the campground.
