I don't like Ness bikes......... They mostly seem like out of control spending fit.. ;) Interesting, but still a spending fit.
I agree.
He might make some nice/clean parts. but when he puts them all together he comes up
with some nasty, thrown together things he calls "custom"...

Speaking of turbine bikes...
My old boss, owner of more than a few Lexus dealerships (dick) has the other turbine bike that Leno has. Said to be only three made. Leno ha one, the dick has one, and the inventor of the bike has the third. His is actually on "display" in his dealership in Schaumburg Illinois (Woodfield Lexus) if anyone wants to check it out...

I think I read that those turbine bikes use APO turbine engines outta old military helos- too much time on the motors for flight use, but more than perfectly fine for a motorcycle project..  I think I also read that the sound these things make is freakin awesome, but that they are entirely too fast to comfortably ride- like you have to spool the motor way up to take off, and then it will go like 180 with less than 1/3 throttle or something crazy like that.  Very neato though.

Also, the Jesse James bike looks like it would scrape the rocker covers on the bottom cylinders..  Man that thing is a work of art though- I wonder if that's an actual rotary motor, or a custom assembly of cylinders.

The James' radial is pretty cool IMO but those bottom cylinders sure are close to the ground. Looking at the other radial (with the engine mounted parallel- also very cool) I was thinking the rearmost cylinders don't get much cooling air. A turbine engine though, hell I would think the radial would be hard to ride with that kind of power but the turbine would be rediculous, I mean how many hp are those things? I suppose it would work well on a drag strip though  ;D.

While not a fan of Jesse or his work, in this case I'll wager the thing rides on air suspension and for shows its sitting at its lowest for  shows.
He usually doesn't assemble trailer queens. And that's all the positives I'll say for him.

The engine on that first bike is really cool... it's a brand new radial built by some Aussies that were out to create a low (about 110) horsepower radial for homebuilt aircraft....

On the Jesse James' bike:            Because the engine has the crankshaft inline with the frame, I
wonder if there would be any sideways movement of the bike when it was
      revved up?

I imagine there Would be a huge side to side movement when revved.
Case in point, my CX500 really shoves to one side when revved.

This is something that would not even make it up my driveway, so
it's cute, but impratical. If I can't ride it, i don't want it.

You know, I actually sent a similar radial engined motorcycle design to Suzuki's Design Contest back in 1980. I won a new DS100 for another design but I didn't think anybody would be crazy enough to build one.
