You'll likely have to cut about 1/4 inch off the little stubs under the front tank rubber mounts, and cut the rubber down to match.  The front is narrower on the 750 tank than the 500.

I'm saying this based on my fitting an early 750 tank to my 550F.  Check which side the petcock is on as well - you want one on the left, which are I think the earlier 750 tanks (correct me if I'm wrong someone).

BTW - for a perfect example of the 750 tank on a 550, just check out Rob Lloyd's pictures:

They're bigger.

550 = 3.7 gal

750 = 4.5 or 5.0 gal

I don't think even God knows if the CB500 Twin tank you won (that's NOT a 750 tank) will fit a 500/4.  However, it's a question I and many others have asked, so let us know.  I've always liked the T tank, and have been keeping my eyes open for a local junker to test fit.

  I do belive it is a 750 tank I did an image search on Google & found several 750's with that tank, one a 76 the other 78.
Thanks for the warning, but Rob Lloyd hasnt blown up. Well see, oh well only $40 shipped it will be an experiment.

That bike has helped me out in so many ways for design process.  Rob Lloyd where are you.  He fell off the earth.   BTW, those are 750 carbs on that yellow beast too.

Well, I've never liked the way the seat 'sat' on the frame - doesn't look like it fits properly.  My only real criticism.

     Heres a couple. Not a prick youre just sure. For all I know your right & it is a diffrent tank.
 The other wouldnt let me upload it & I couldnt change the format. Not the most computer oriented there is.
 Do a google image search Honda 750 it is a red tank alone with a descripton  on the 5th page.

Ok here it is.  This is a Dunstall tank.  Aftermarket racing kits.  NOT a Honda tank, and not what you bought.

http://www.classic-motorcycle-fiberglass.com/tanks/Dunstall%20CB750%20Tank.htm

And the thumbnail you posted isn't a stock Honda either - can't make it out though, and couldn't find it in your image search.

   So anyways do you think a cb 500 twin tank is better suited than a 750 tank. As I said $40 shipped it wont
be the most money I ever wasted. I really like the tank though. I have a Mac computer so I probably get diffrent search results.

I thought of getting a 500T tank to put on my 550 because there everywhere on Ebay.  I asked the same question last month and was told here that the 500T would probably not fit over the frame.  Glad you got the tank, please post if it fits.

Yeah - we're all interested to know for sure if it even comes close to fitting, so please let us know and post pics.  If it fits, you'll likely see us all running out and buying 500T tanks, the price of which will skyrocket  ::)

It was a fuzzy pic but I will definetly agree with TinTin that it is a 500 twin tank.I had a 500      twin in the late 70's and even had to buy a used tank for it at the local cycle salvage.Fuzzy pic or not.....I can visually ID that tank!!!!I have no clue whatsoever what other bikes it will fit.
