Decided to put a hose and ran it to the end of the bike. Put a plug at the end and made hole in plug.
Thanks for all the help

If it is like the stock original hose, yes.

Be wary of the eBay plenum drain hoses claiming to be NOS Honda parts. I ordered one just recently and upon receipt, it does not have the open cell foam in the end of it as TwoTired alluded too. Specifically this eBay seller/listing:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-Honda-NOS-17335-323-000-TUBE-ASSY-BREATHER/232509610466?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Interesting' you learn something every day. I didn't know there was a foam filter (at the large dia. end). I assumed that the long small dia pipe was enough to virtually eliminate air getting in this way. Anyway checked my three roadworthy bikes and it's there and a new sealed part I have from DSS and it's also present.
Thanks TT/Jooky

The tubes I've seen had the foam stuffed in the small end.  Mud daubers would plug up the fuel bowl drain ends, but not the plenum drain hose end with foam stuffed in it.

I know it's a 13 year old thread, but thanks. My 550F2 arrived yesterday and the breather hose from the head wasn't connected to anything. The thread has solved the problem for me as to where is should connect to.

I have attached a copy of an edition of IMO the world's best motormagazine Das Motorrad in which they have tested the CB550F2, (#18 1977). Their testteam ran into an issue. The CB550F's performance proved not as good as the CB500K2-G, they had tested the year before (see p8). In cooperation with Honda mecs they have diagnosed the cause: the OEM airfilter element had become humid and fouled by the crankcase breather recircling device, reducing the air intake. They 'cured' it by fitting a new airfilter element and having the oillevel not higher than maximum halfway the upper and lower mark on the oil dipstick. Where I live, dealers and owners in those years just disconnected the breather tube altogether and plugged the hole. In Europe we didn't have any rules on recircling for motorcycles.
