cb550 cam tensioner frozen
« on: July 17, 2012, 01:53:44 PM »
hello, 77 cb550k.  i can grab the threaded piece of the cam tensioner and turn it in circles.  how bad is this? the locknut on the cam tensioner is frozen to the threaded screw and im trying to break it free but even if i free up the bolt thats frozen on the tensioner screw do i still have to remove the cam tensioner from the motor because i can rotate the screw?

I'm afraid so. On the other end of that screw are little teeth that mesh with teeth on the tensioner. If you can rotate it 360 degrees then the teeth aren't meshing.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

You might be hard pressed to find a replacement. If you can't find one locally, DSS are still showing one in stock. Unfortunately, at $194.11 + shipping, it's not a cheap thing.
